Renault's Duster SUV Only Made In India

A person close to this development is quoted to have said: “India will be the exclusive manufacturing hub for all the right hand drive markets for Duster, including UK." If Renault does begin exporting the Duster From India, it will be the first SUV to be exported from our country. So far just hatchbacks such as Hyundai's i10, i20, Maruti Suzuki's A-Star, Ford's Figo and Nissan's Micra are exported from India.
The Duster is being sold as the Dacia Duster in Europe. Renault intends to exporet the Duster built in India to right hand drive markets such as the United Kingdom, South Africa and Australia. Renault's vice-president for communications, Ashish Sinharoy has stated the carmaker would focus on the Indian market for the first five years of its existence in India but would not ignore any export potential.
The Duster has been designed keeping in mind the Indian car market. To be available with both petrol and diesel engines, the Duster has a high ground clearance to handle rough terrain and uneven roads. It is expected to be priced between Rs.8 lakhs and 10 lakhs which will make it a direct competitor of the Mahindra Scorpio. Renault has said both two-wheel drive and four-wheel -drive models will be built in India.
Renault believes it can keep the price of the Duster down by utilising parts manufactured entirely in India.
