Mahatma Gandhi Travelled In This Ford T Series

We all know that Mahatma Gandhi was a simple man who owned just the basic amenities and rejected to live a luxurious life despite having a rich family. He lived during a time when owning a car was a definite luxury. Hence Gandhiji never owned a car. But here is a car in which he travelled when he was in the year 1927 when he visited Uttar Pradesh
Gandhiji travelled from the Bareilly central jail in Uttar Pradesh in 1927 in a Ford T series. The car has changed hands several times and is now owned by Abbas Jasdanwalla from Pune. Mr Jasdanwalla is vintage car collector and this Ford T series is the most priceless model in his collection of 30 vintage cars.
This Ford T series was displayed during the Annual Maharashtra Automotive Sports Association's car fiesta in Pune. The event also so several other vintage cars. The highlight was the oldest car vintage car of Pune – a 1908 Wolseley Landaulet owned by Jasdanwalla.
Another Vintage car that can be associated with Mahatma Gandhi is the Rolls-Royce car called the Star OF India which was specially custom built for the the Maharaja of Rajkot. Mahatma Gandhi's father Karamchand was the Dewan of the Rajkot royal family. Mahatma Gandhi as well as the Queen of England are said to have travelled in this car.
