BMW Unveils i3 and i8 Electric Hybrids In New York

Both the vehicles are a visual delight with extensive use of glass and carbon fibre. BMW has said the extensive use of glass and carbon fibre has made both the cars very light and nimble to handle. The i3 will be the first car to hit production with a production ready car to hit the market by 2013.
The i8 sports car will be built a year later. Both the concepts though visually striking have a ready power train system that will remain unchanged. BMW has used carbon fibre for the construction of the body too. This has helped in increasing the cars' interior space while keeping the size small. People who saw the cars live were shocked by so much transparency in the car.
Richard Kim, who designed the cars exteriors said the final production ready car will not have so much glass but people will be able to see its interiors. Mr Kim said: “You may not see as much glass, but you will be able to see the light coming through." The cars will officially debut next week at the Los Angeles auto show.
