Its The Best Time To Buy The Reva Electric Car

Reva, the Bangalore based electric car maker now joins the Diwali festivities by offering a discounts on the Reva's entry level model. Reva which was taken over by Mahindra has three models in its line-up. The standard model which costs RS.3.13 lakhs (ex showroom, Bangalore) is now available at a discounted price of Rs.2.99 lakhs.

There is some bad news if you are somebody outside Bangalore. Reva has said this festive season discount is limited only to buyers from Bangalore and the offer is open only until 31st October.

The Reva is India's first and only electric car brand. It was founded in Bangalore a decade ago and it has seen moderate success. Its growth is being pushed further after it became Mahindra Reva. The electric carmaker is set to launch the Reva NXR, the first true four seater electric car in India.

Reva in a recent press advertisement has listed out several advantages of its electric car against a conventional petrol powered small car. The Reva has a range of 80 kilometres per charge with each charge consuming nine units of electricity. Considering one unit of electricity is priced at Rs.4 one can travel in a Reva for 80 kilometres for just Rs.36. This means the cost of running the Reva per kilometre is Rs.0.45.

A petrol powered car on the other hand with a mileage of 12kmpl on city roads is more expensive to run. Considering the price of petrol is Rs.74, the cost of running a petrol powered car is as much as Rs.6.66. This is a huge difference in running costs between an electric Reva and conventional petrol car.
