Toyota recalls 5.5 Lakh Cars Again

Toyota Recall
Japanese carmaker Toyota Motor Corp has announced yet another recall in the United states. The recall is now due to a faulty crankshaft pulley engine used in several Toyota and Lexus branded cars. Toyota has stated the recall will be effective about 5.5 lakh cars mostly in the US.

The recall was announced by Toyota's US sales division today. The fault in the engine will lead to the belt in the power steering pump getting detached. This will make using the steering wheel a little more straining. Toyota has clarified there were no reports of accidents caused by this fault.

A total of 2,83,200 Toyota and 1,37,000 Lexus branded cars will be recalled in the United states. Toyota spokesman Dion Corbett said some 38,000 cars are being recalled in Japan, as well as 25,000 in Australia and New Zealand. The models that will be recalled are the Toyota Camry built between 2004 and 2005, the Highlander and the Sienna.

Toyota has been regularly announcing recalls in the United states since the past two years. This has not only affected sales but also discredited its image as a builder of the world's most reliable cars. Toyota was the world's largest selling carmaker when the first recalls happened. Now its position as come down two places and it is now at thirds place.
