Maruti Dealers No Longer Booking New Swift

New Swift
Maruti Suzuki's dealers have stopped taking bookings for the new Swift as production at the carmaker's plant in Manesar has come down drastically. Maruti Suzuki has already received more than 90,000 bookings for the new Swift so far. Dealers are facing a barrage of questions from people who have already booked the Swift.

In the past ten days since the labour unrest began in Manesar, Maruti Suzuki has managed to build just 1,515 Swifts as against the target of building 7,192 cars. According to reports waiting period for the Swift's diesel version has already crossed an eight month period.

The new Swift's Facebook fan page has emerged as an unlikely platform for people to express their fears about the new Swift's waiting period. People who had booked the Swift two months ago are yet to receive their cars. Maruti Suzuki is facing a prospect of people cancelling their bookings instead of waiting for such a long period.

Maruti Suzuki has already begun production of the new Swift at its plant in Gurgaon. It managed to build just 90 cars on Thursday. A company official is reported to have said: “ The company will continue to scout for more trained workers in coming days and ramp up Swift production from the current level of 340 cars per day."
