Mahindra Bolero
Mahindra and Mahindra today launched the new face-lifted new Bolero in Mumbai. The new Bolero is priced at Rs.6.33 which is about Rs.6,000 more expensive than the model it is replacing. The new Bolero will be available in two variants, the base SLE variant will be available at 6.33 lakhs and the ZLX BS4 variant which is available at 6.96 lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi).

The Mahindra Bolero has been in the Indian car market for over eight years. Many people had written off the model as an old one but Mahindra had other thoughts. The New Bolero is not only fresher but is also more powerful and efficient. Mahindra has not limited itself with just a cosmetic upgrade fore the Bolero. It has gone the full distance by adding a new and efficient diesel engine, added more user friendly features and the interior looks more sumptuous.

The Mahindra Bolero is now powered by a 2.5-litrem2DiCR diesel engine that delivers 63 horses and 195 Nm of torque. Mahindra has claimed the new Bolero will offer a fuel economy of 16kmpl with the micro hybrid system, which is quite impressive for an SUV. Mahindra introduced the micro-hybrid system in its flagship Scorpio. It will now be available in the top end variant of the new Bolero.

The Bolero is India's best selling SUV and it has finally got a look that it deserves. It gets a new front bumpers, new headlights with integrated turn-indicators and a new grille. New side decals add top the Bolero's style statement. The spare wheel carrier gets a cover, a first for the Bolero. On the inside, the new Bolero gets dual-tone seats, better finish, dual-tone dashboard, fake wood inserts and new AC vents. Another highlight is the all-digital instrument cluster which is also a first for the Bolero.

Mahindra appears to have taken customer feedback very seriously. The old Bolero was not accepted well in the urban market due to its interior noise and bumpy ride. The new Bolero is comparatively quieter and the ride is impressive too.

Mahindra is expecting to sell over one lakh Boleros this year. Last year the SUV specialist was able to sell 84,000 units. Considering the updates and a price which is astounding for an entry level SUV we expect Mahindra to reach its targets easily. The Bolero has no visible rival as of now. The Tata Sumo which offered a credible competition does not seem to be in the scene.
