Ford India has deduced a unique strategy to market its cars. The American carmaker is offering long time customers of the other car models a chance to use its models for a week. The Ford Swap Your Drive will enable car users to experience the difference between their cars and Ford's cars for one whole week

The Ford Swap Your Drive Initiative appears to be aimed at the market leaders in individual segments. The Ford Figo is pitted against the Maruti Suzuki Swift, the Fiesta Classic takes on the Tata Indigo and Endeavour SUV is pitted against the Toyota Fortuner.

Ford has claimed the Swap Your Drive initiative has changed the mindsets off all participants for ever. The Figo hatchback has been offered to owners of the Maruti Suzuki Swift. Sanjeet Ahluwalia, a long time Swift owner was impressed by the Figo's space, powerful AC mileage. It may be recalled that the Figo is Ford's best selling car and is available with a starting price of Rs.3.74 lakhs.

Another car that cemented Ford's brand image is the Fiesta. Ford's entry level sedan, the Fiesta classic was offered to Sarabjot Singh, who owns a Tata Indigo. The biggest difference between his Indigo and the Fiesta Classic was the Ford's impeccable fuel economy. Mr Singh has said he did not notice the fuel gauge moving for the first two days of the week. The Fiesta Classic was launched in April this year with a starting price of Rs5.65 lakhs.

The Ford Endeavour has been the American carmaker's long standing SUV in India. The carmaker has taken on the Toyota Fortuner, a SUV that took the Indian market by storm, and has again impressed users. Mr Bal Nanda who swapped his Fortuner for a Ford Endeavour was clearly impressed by the Ford's off-roading ability. The Handling as well as the automatic transmission also impressed Mr Nanda. The Endeavour is Ford's most expensive car sold in India at Rs.17.27 lakhs.

Ford believes proper exposure to its models will definitely create a long lasting impression in people and will translate in to sales. This initiative offers users an opportunity to test the vehicle comprehensively and truly experience the car's features in its entirety. Ford India's marketing chief Nigel E Wark said: “Swap your Drive truly justifies Ford India"s attempt to bring consumers to the core of our marketing campaigns to drive real, credible and honest experiences. We"re tapping real people, allowing them to experience our vehicles for themselves and then capturing their enthusiasm for the products. We"re telling the Ford story through the eyes of the people who matter most – real consumers."
