World's Costliest Car Crash Kills 10 Super Cars

Costly Car Crash
In what is being described as the world's costliest car crash, a dozen sports cars crashed in to each other on a Japanese freeway on Saturday, 3rd December. The cost of this car crash is being estimated at $4 million. Rather than the cost of the crash, it is the scene of the crash that is more heart bending for an auto enthusiast.

The images show bright red Ferraris broken to bits. We got to know that this car crash happened during a rally by super car enthusiasts. The entourage of super cars were passing through a highway and entered a free way. The lead driver of the pack mistook a turn and hit a median. Cars travelling behind him crashed in to the lead Ferrari.

A chain reaction of car crashes followed the Ferrari's crash resulting in eight Ferrari cars, one Lamborghini, three Mercedes-Benz and one Toyota Prius being completely damaged. There have been other expensive car crashes but this accident has become a highlight not because of the cost of the crash but due to the profile of cars involved.

Some of the Ferrari cars are estimated to be worth more than $250,000. The lone Lamborghini is estimated to be worth $150,000. The cheapest car involved in this crash is the Toyota Prius hybrid car which is sold at Rs.30 lakhs in India. The car crash if calculated in Indian money is worth more than Rs.20 crores.
