Nissan Sunny Diesel Engine Details Leaked

Nissan Sunny
We recently test drove the Nissan Sunny and were wondering why Nissan did not launch a diesel variant soon. If it had, we would definitely seen more Sunnys on our roads than we see now. The Sunny is by far the most spacious sedan in its class and it is being lapped up by buyers despite it not having a diesel engine.

Nissan had said it will be launching the diesel variant in early 2012 and here are the first news on the the diesel engine to be used in the Sunny. It will be powered by a four cylinder 1461 turbo charged engine capable of generating 86PS and 200Nm of torque. Such power and torque will be sufficient for a car that is as big and heavy as the Sunny.

Do not expect performance that you have seen in the petrol variant. The diesel variant will offer the best possible mileage and low running costs. According to estimates, the Nissan Sunny's diesel variant will offer a mileage of over 20kmpl.

Nissan has not revealed the price of the diesel variants. Nissan could do really well if it keeps the difference between the diesel variant's price and the petrol variant under Rs.1 lakh. The Sunny is currently one of the most affordable mid size sedans and if its diesel variants are priced well, it could well be on its way towards challenging India's best selling sedans.
