Toyota Etios Liva
Toyota Kirloskar Motors has confirmed it would be launching the diesel variants the Etios sedan as well as the Etios Liva hatchback early this week. Toyota has already launched the petrol variants of its latest entry level models.

The diesel variants of the Etios and Etios Liva have already been sighted while being tested in Bangalore. These models are expected to be powered by 1.2-litres engines paired with a five speed manual gearbox. These two models will be the Japanese carmaker's first small cars to get diesel engines in India.

Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) Deputy Managing Director Sandeep Singh while confirming reports about the launch of the Etios diesel and Etios Liva diesel said: “Yes, we are launching the diesel variants of the two cars on September 9. We aimed to introduce the two versions in August, but had to postpone by a month due to the earthquake and tsunami in Japan."

The launch of the diesel powered Etios and Etios Liva will mark the completion of Toyota's plans to launch a full family of entry level cars available in both petrol and diesel. Toyota, which had a small market share in the volume car sector can now look forward to improve its presence in the Indian auto market.
