Toyota To Launch Avanza MPV Under Innova

Toyota, the leading Japanese carmaker has decided to add a new model to its stables in India. The carmaker is considering to launch a new MPV that will compete against the Mahindra Xylo and the Chevrolet Tavera. The new MPV from Toyota will be called the Avanza and will be positioned below the Innova.

Toyota Kirloskar Motors is expected to begin production of the Avanza before the end of this year. The Avanza, which will be built on the platform of the Innova, has been designed in such a way that it will not be competing with the Innova. The new MPV is expected to be slightly small er and have lesser seating capacity than the Innova. Further the Avanza will be powered by a smaller engine.

The Toyota Avanza is expected to deliver a decent fuel economy and will not have as much power as its competitors. The Avanza has already been launched in the international markets as the Avensis. Expected to be priced around Rs.7 lakhs, the Avanza will offer Toyota an opportunity to expand its base in India.

Reports indicate the Toyota Avanza will be launched initially with just a petrol engine. A diesel engine will work wonders for the Avanza as diesel is the preferred fuel type for larger cars. Further fleet operators would always prefer a diesel MPV rather than a petrol powered MPV. Lets wait and watch how the younger version of the Innova.
