Honda Suffers Nature's Fury, Thai Plant Flooded

Thailand has had severe rains which resulted in floods across more than half the country. Reports from Thailand say the floods have engulfed Honda's plant causing severe damage. The plant was scheduled to begin production of the face lifted City sedan which was recently unveiled in Thailand. Honda was also planning to build the latest generation Civic at this plant.
Honda is being forced to indefinitely postpone the resumption of production until the flood situation improves. The Japanese carmaker had to suffer in Japn last year after the huge earth quake. It had to shut down plants in Japan and across the world as supply of parts stopped completely.
Honda has several plants across the globe but nature's fury appears to be following it. The earth quake in Japan lead to the delayed launch of the Brio small car in India. The City, arguably India's highest selling mid level sedan is in a desperate need of a facelift but the floods have delayed it.
Japan is already at a disadvantageous position due to its lack of diesel engines. Now the delays of new launches and facelifts will also pose a threat to its market share. Honda fortunately has its Indian plant in Rajasthan, a location that at least for now has not faced any major natural disasters.
