Volkswagon's New Jetta, Passat in 2011

The new editions of Jetta and Passat from the German luxury car maker Volkswagen is slated for 2011 launch, said its Head for marketing and PR. He said the new Jetta and Passat cars will be assembled in India instead of localizing them, since the Indian market has become the fastest growing one for the Volkswagen"s luxury cars.

He said that the luxury car segment in India is on the vertical index and will continue so in coming years too. The price of these Volkswagen cars that is the new Jetta and Passat is yet to be known but said that the other VW cars, Polo and Vento are on the waiting period of 2-3 months since they have received good responses since their launch.

The Chakan facility is upgraded with more capacity for clearing the demand for these cars, he said, adding that the demand for White Polo is on the increase. By not mentioning the exact volume of increased capacity, he said the Volkswagen sold 4613 units of Polo and Vento in November from 26000 units sold for the period of January-November 2010. There has been a talk in the camps of Volkswagen that the Chakan facility will meet the full capacity of 1.1 lakh by the end of 2011 as it has already invested Rs3800 crore in the Indian operations.
