Honda Worried On Volkswagen-Suzuki Alliance
Globally, car makers are grabing larger market share through alliances. For instance, Toyota-Peugeot-Citroen stealed the show against Aygo/107/C1 triplets. Nissan/Renault/Samsung/Dacia have also reaped success by selling similar products. In North America, Honda Accord has to compete with Hyundai i45 and Kia Magentis/Optima. In the SUV segment too, CR-V races with ix35 and Kia SL Sportage.
Now, Honda feels that VW-Suzuki will be the biggest threat. Suzuki has a monopoly in ASEAN region, and it is an expert in manufacturing low cost quality cars. When the low cost technology combines with the quality and safety of Volkswagen, the product from this alliance would be splendid. This will cause sleepless nights to Honda as well as Hyundai.
However, Honda has learnt using smart technology in the same price, maintaining the brand value. Honda showcased the small car concept in Delhi Auto Expo this year. Honda has announced that it would introduce diesel engines by 2012. Hence, Honda, will stand on its own leg by its finesse skills rather than joining another brand or making alliances.
