The German car maker, Volkswagen said it is hiking the price of its hatchback Polo by 2.9% from January 1. The reason attributed for this rise, according to the Member of Board and Director of Volkswagen, is the on going input cost in the last several months. He said Volkswagen has tried its best to avoid any rise but the decision came to offer the same quality which the customers deserve. He made it clear that the revised price on Polo will be applicable for those who book the car from January 1 and not for the bookings made till December 31 2010.
Manufactured in Chakan plant, since its launch in India this March Volkwagen has sold 17000 units till November. Interestingly, Polo happens to be the indigenous car from an overseas manufacturer. Volkswagen sells Jetta and Passat (both assembled in Aurangabad) in addition to the latest version of Beetle, Touareg (SUV), Phaeton luxury and Vento.
