Volkswagen and Suzuki Tests Customers
Many consumers are disappointed with the delivery period of Polo. For instance, two of the Mumbai based customers have booked Volkswagen Polo cars in May and are yet to get their cars delivered by the company.
The same challenge of delivering the cars on time is faced by Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai, India's top two car makers. These companies have waiting lists of particular models due to insufficient supply of batteries and engine castings and other parts which compel the automakers to reduce the pace in delivery of cars to the booked customers. Tata Motors, India's largest vehicle manufacturer is importing tires from China because local component suppliers could not meet the demands of more than 30 percent in Indian car sales in 2010.
According to Pawan Goenka,Head of Society of Indian Automotive Manufacturers and President of Mahindra and Mahindra stated that, in the next three to four months, the waiting period for cars won't be resolved. For instance, Mahindra's production of cars and SUVs reduced by 12 percent due to shortage of supplies .
