Volkswagen's 10000th Polo car rolled out from Chakan Plant!
Mr Joerg Mueller, Volkswagen Group Chief Representative India and President & Managing Director Volkswagen India Private Limited, said that he was very happy at achieving an impressive figure of 10,000 in the first year itself; especially during the ramp-up phase of the plant. He also stated that , this target was as per the plans of the company's Chakan plant production and parallely it has ensured the quality and technology which is in par with the Volkswagen Group cars worldwide.
Within the next three months, Volkswagen will also introduce the second shift operations in the company's Chakan plant speeding up the production of Polo.
Chakan plant of Volkswagen builds both the Polo and the Skoda Fabia and the 10,000th figure includes both the cars. The Pune plant is one of the most modern, covers all stages in the production process from press shop through body shop and paint shop to final assembly. The plant's maximum annual capacity of 110,000 vehicles.
The company has plans to strengthen its work force from 1500 to 2500. The German car maker has invested nearly Rs.3400 crores, the largest investment till date by a German firm in Indian soil. Volkswagen is also contributing to the development of economy of the area surrounding the plant and its achievement shows its sincere commitment to its new plant!
