Volkswagen On More Demand For Vento And Polo

The German luxury car maker Volkswagen said it is getting high demand for its small car Polo and Vento which have the wait period of 2-3 months. As a result the company is making efforts to increase the volume of production in its Chakan facility, said its Director for Passenger cars in India. Earlier there was a move to increase the production capacity to 1.1 lakh in this facility by December 2011 at an investment of Rs 3800 crore.

Thus, the second shift has commenced the production for Polo and Vento while maintaining the quality and standards, he added that there is no fixed volume for the ramping. During the last month the company sold 4613 units and the net total for all its models for the period of January - November is 26000 units. The company has simultaneously increased the dealer network to 61 of which 5 are in metropolitan cities. He said this network volume will soon be increased across the country. VW"s range of cars in India include Beat and Polo compact cars, Passat, Phaeton and Jetta sedans Touareg SUV and mid-sized sedan Vento.
