Toyota Registers 26% Growth In August Sales

Toyota Kirloskar Motors (TKM) reported a 26% growth in the company's August sales. Toyota sold 6,361 cars in August 2010 and it sold 5,045 units in August 2009. Toyota has stated that, the sales volume increased because of the good response for its new Toyota Corolla Altis Diesel and Toyota Fortuner SUV.

According to Sandeep Singh, deputy managing director-marketing, TKM, Toyota Corolla Altis Diesel was launched in July and the booking have crossed 2000 units so far, which has lived up to the company's expectations. He added that, August also marked the first anniversary of the Fortuner in India, as well as reaching the milestone of 10,000 units sold which Toyota celebrates by introducing the Fortuner anniversary edition.

Toyota has reported 62% growth in sales during the first eight months of the current year when compared to the same period last year. Toyota will launch its Etios car in December, by which, the company hopes to double its sales volumes next year. Toyota Etios is World First, India First car, designed for the domestic market and then to be introduced in other countries.
