Toyota targets to sell more cars in rural India!
Etios, the Toyota small car(sedan/hatchback) tailored for Indian market will increase the sales number for Toyota and as per the market status, Toyota will start exporting Etios to world market too. Therefore, by 2011 end Toyota eyes on acheiving 1.5 lakh car sales and will push its sales ahead to 3 -3.5 lakh by 2015.
According to Toyota's MD Mr. Hiroshi Nakagawa, India, with a robust auto market progress is a promising one in the world. When even US, Japan and EU were facing difficulties, India showed a robust sales of cars throughout the recession. He informed that only 16 out of 1000 people have got cars, which means in the upcoming years the growth rate would be 10% in India, as against 5% in the world market. Toyota is confident that their small car Etios will fuel the sales volumes in India in the coming days.
Toyota is keen on setting up a Research and Development unit in India along with manufacturing engines in the country. Right now, the Japanese car maker is studying the Indian market and will decide accordingly on these.
As part of expanding its business, Toyota targets the rural regions of country and will expand its dealerships by increasing it to 150 in 2010. Also, Toyota has invested Rs. 3200 crore to build a second plant in Bidadi, which will create 2000 new jobs, as of now the company has got 3700 employees.
