Toyota Etios Trial Production
Toyota Etios will undergo two production trials, one in September and the other in October, before the scheduled production starts in the last month of this year. The pre-production cars will act as test mules, which will undergo rigorous testing in the real world and as well as at test tracks, to know every aspect of Etios's performance.
Etios is a very big project for Toyota, because its the Japanese giant first project to enter the mass segment. Toyota has been so far selling only premium vehicles in India such as Innova, Land Cruiser, Prado, Corolla, Camry and Fortuner. With Etios, Toyota is targeting the masses.
Etios project commenced 4 years before and more than 2000 Indian and Japanese engineers have been working on this project. Toyota may launch Etios powered by 1.2 L and 1.5 L petrol power plants and a 1.4L D-4D Diesel which powers Corolla Altis Diesel.
Toyota is also planning to launch LPG and CNG variants of Etios, in fact, even a Hybrid Etios is in cards.
Indians have huge hopes on Toyota because there has been overwhelming response for the cars since its display in Delhi Auto Expo 2010. Toyota has been aggressive in publicity, taking Etios to 33 cities and showcasing the sedan and hatchback variant of this car in important spots of these cities of our country.
