Toyota Etios Too Busy With Orders

The JV of Toyota Kirloskar in India is receiving good response to the recently launched sedan Etios. The orders have started pouring in lump for the entry level sedan into which Toyota is the latest entrant and is to face the big players in the segment. The major task before TKM is the prompt delivery of the bookings as it has already received 14000 lump orders as on date which is expected to reach 17000 by this year end. The trend may be still fancier when the company would launch its hatchback in this version, Toyota Etios Lava during March 2011. Unconfirmed reports indicate that the Etios Lava may come with the price tag of Rs 4 lakh to play safe on the highly competitive market.

The target for Toyota Etios in 2011 is set as 70000 units and the condition created out of recent orders has made TKM to think strong for timely deliveries. This comes amidst some rumor that there might be wait for more than 6 months but TKM believes that there wont be any hindrance to meet the demand. The company"s Deputy MD said the company is overwhelmed at the response posed to Etios and the reward is directed to the team behind the creation. He said the company is exploring all possibilities to reach the customers at the earliest to let them have the touch and try mode in the dealer showrooms. Out of the Toyota Etios bookings made so far, there are 65% for top end version and 30% for mid entry version, with the standard version of Toyota Etios at Rs 5 lakhs constitute the rest 5%.

TKM is planning to position this Etios in both sedan and in hatchback version- on Tier -II and III centres to penetrate the huge potential. The position will change the perception that TKM has all along been a vehicle for middle aged group. He said the company is devoted to maintain the quality standards at any cost. He further said by March 2011 Toyota Etios diesel would have come off.
