Toyota Etios- Pre-Launch Preparations
Toyota is much conscious of the high cost brand image for Etios and the entry into the highly competitive market will be a real challenge to it. The MD of Toyota"s Indian unit said that the company is fully aware of the potential in Indian market as well as the cost conscious customers. Toyota Etios is assembled with 70% localized components for maintaining the cost effect. Toyota"s expansion of engine and transmission production will be in 2012 and as of now the powertrain is being imported from the apex company.
A.R Rahman as the brand ambassador of Toyota Etios has increased dealerships to 150 in number from the existing 82. More important the launch of Toyota Etios has received Rs3200 crore as investment which seems to be the highest ever by a Japanese car maker for any single product. He added that the initial launch and importance will be in the Indian market this year and will be followed to Brazil later. Sooner or later, the diesel version of Etios may be launched, he said.
