Big Plans For Toyota Etios

Toyota Kirloskar Motors have big hopes from Toyota Etios. Toyota Etios which was launched at Bangalore will be available in Sedan and Hatchback Models. Toyota Hatchback Liva will be launched next April. The Toyota Kirloskar Motors is confident of selling 70,000 units of Etios models in 2011.

“Our target is 70,000 units of Etios range next year," Koji Nagata, executive managing coordinator (marketing) Toyota.

“The compact car segment is growing at a faster pace. Next year we expect the segment to log monthly sales of around 80,000 units up from 70,000 units this year. The bookings for Etios within six days of its launch have crossed 6,000. Hence we are hopeful of using the plant"s entire capacity," said the general manager (sales) Sailesh Shetty.

Toyota Kirloslar has two plants has a capacity of 150,000 units. With such a huge capacity, Toyota hopes that it will increase it sales. They hope to get 150 more dealership in India. “We will be setting up 100,000 units per annum engine plant and 240,000 units per annum transmission plant at an outlay of Rs.5 billion. The engine plant is expected to go on stream in 2012 and the transmission plant in 2014," said Shetty.

It was also revealed that Toyota wants to manufacture other varieties of cars as well bases on the design of Toyota Etios. This would include multi/sports utility vehicles. Toyota Kirloskar's Etios Liva will be competing with the likes of Hyundai Motors, Maruti Suzuki Swift and Ford Figo.
