Tata Motors has rearranged its top deck, especially in the passenger vehicle sector in order to increase the sales and grow in-house talents. R Ramakrishnan, VP of Commercial Vehicles will now take in charge of VP (commercial) passenger cars and will report to PM Telang, managing director of the company's India operations.

Niraj Srivastava, regional manager (west) of the commercial vehicle business, is nominated as the new head for the car product group, reporting to Mr Ramakrishnan. S Krishnan, senior VP (commercial) for passenger car business in India, who reports to Mr Telang, will now take in charge of the international business operations. Also, Nitin Seth, senior General Manager & the erstwhile Head of the car product group, has been entrusted with some cross-company strategic initiatives. Both Mr Krishnan and Mr Seth will directly report to MD of Tata Motors.

Mr Srivastava's post has been filled by Rajesh Kaul, who is the Marketing Head of the CV section. Tata Motors is yet to fill in Mr Ramakrishnan's position. One of the Tata Motors spokesperson confirmed the news and said that with new responsibilities required to be resourced, the company has redeployed senior managers appropriately.

Tata Nano is selling in large numbers, whereas the remaining passenger car business came under pressure recently due to increasing competition. Models in the passenger vehicle section that includes Indica, Indigo, Sumo and Safari have new and tough rival products from Ford, Maruti, GM and Volkswagen.

The management of Tata Motors is likely to concentrate more on the passenger car segment because the recent sales figures assure a stabilized truck business in the past few months. Tata Motors' major earnings, nearly 70 percent comes from truck sales which is recently being upgraded with the launch of Prima World Trucks.

With respect to passenger vehicles, Tata Motors is about to launch Aria, first Indian Crossover 4 wheeler next month. Tata Aria will take on the top seller Toyota Innova.
