New Engines For Trucks From Tata Motors

By Anjana Ns

By investing Rs400 crore, Tata motors is chalking out plans to revise the engines meant for its trucks to boost the sales. The company"s official said the range of Tata Motors engines will be 3lit and 5 lit for the light commercial trucks in separate platforms.

Yet there is no information about the deadline for launching these engines. However, there is an information about the proposed double-trailer truck under the Prima range of global trucks meant for exports during this fiscal end, he added.

The company is fully aware of the poor response to these trucks in the local market but is conscious of the potential in overseas market. The existing Tata Motors engines are for medium and heavy commercial vehicles made for the buses and trucks. The engines are made in the Jamshedpur plant under a JV with the US based Cummins on equal share.
