Tata's New Indica Vista and Ace Mini-truck

Tata motor is foraying into the electric vehicle segment, but not India right now. Within this year, Tata will launch the electric powered Indica Vista and Ace Mini truck in UK and Europe, especially the Scandinavian countries.

Tata has preferred the UK market because the British government is promoting electric vehicles under the Alternative Fuels Infrastructure Grant Programme and therefore provides a perfect platform for vehicles such as the Vista and Ace.

Tata Motors European Technical Centre had received a GBP 10 million loan to develop the Indica Vista EV in the UK. The company has invested a total of GBP 25 million (Rs 180 crore) in the project.

Due to the lack of infrastructure like charging stations, Tata Motors has no plans to launch the electric vehicles in India.
