JLR To Improve Tata Aria's Interiors

Tata Motors has sent its upcoming 4-Wheel-Drive Crossover, 'Aria' to its UK subsidiary, JLR for improving the interiors. Tata Aria was first showcased at the Delhi Auto Expo, earlier this year. According to Live Mint daily reports, a supplier in the know of the project confirmed that the company has indeed sent the vehicle to UK to improve the interior fit and finish. He added that Tata Motors wants to get it right at the first go.

As per the Tata Motors official website, Tata Aria, to be launched in the second quarter of 2010, blends the functionality and comfort of a mid-range MPV with the all terrain assurance and premiums of an SUV. Aria's unique design and construction makes it robust, elegant and comfortable.

Aria's interiors, with three rows of theater style seating, present a luxurious world of premium features comprising 3D surround sound, dimming roof lamps, in-dash built in GPS, a state-of-the-art infotainment system, multifunctional steering wheel, dual air conditioning with automatic climate control and cruise control.

Tata Motors is also introducing, first of its kind features such as, top-of-the-line safety features include 6 airbags and ESP, offered by an Indian OEM for the first time. Besides, the chassis frame comprising advanced hydro formed members, a stiffened body cage, and dual zone collapsible steering make the Aria one of the safest vehicles.

Tata Aria is powered by a 2.2 Litre Direct Injection Common Rail (DICOR) diesel engine, delivering 140 PS power and 320 Nm torque, is mated, in the 4x4 option, with an all-wheel drive with torque on demand, which senses and distributes torque to the wheels in accordance with the terrain.

Live Mint states that this latest development is one of the first visible signs of co-operation between JLR and Tata Motors in areas of design, engineering and overall finish. Live Mint daily has spotted an email response they received from Tata Motors which said that, for all its products, Tata Motors takes every conceivable step to ensure that they delight consumers in every respect. But specific initiatives taken are internal to the company, and therefore Tata Motors do not have any comments to specific queries. Since Tata Motors wants to target the higher-end of the SUV market, it is expected that Tata Aria will be priced anywhere between Rs 12.5 lakh to 15 lakh.

Besides launching Tata Aria, the company is about to launch a Van, Tata Venture which is less than 4 meter in length. Venture has the footprint and maneuverability of a hatchback car, but the interior space of a utility vehicle comfortably accommodating 8 passengers and ample luggage space. The interiors of Venture, with a two-tone beige and black theme, are comfortable with dual heating ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) with roof-mounted ducts. A glasshouse effect with plug-in windows for second row passengers makes Venture, a distinctive Van. Driver comfort has been addressed with power steering, power windows, reverse parking aid, key less entry with engine immobilizer and rear wipers. Safety features include collapsible steering and side impact beams.

Tata Venture is powered by a 1.4-litre turbo- diesel engine delivering 70 PS power, with best in class fuel efficiency among diesel MPVs and this MPV will be available in 5, 6, 7 and 8-seater options in 3 row front facing configuration.
