Tata Motors To Expand The Fiat Range
Forster stated that Tata Motors realized great potential for the commercial vehicles - particularly trucks - segment globally and therefore, it could explore synergies in the commercial segment with Fiat in various auto markets. The company plans to frame a different plant to construct small trucks in India and plunge more models by the year-end. Forster has said that Tata Motors would take a fresh look at the ceremonious sapience of importing engines. At present, the company"s British brands Jaguar and Land Rover are facing a dearth of engines that they source from Ford Motor Company.
Tata Motors has registered an impressive first quarter operation helped by the pick up of Jaguar and Land Rover sales across the globe. Net income for the three months ended June 30, 2010 stood at Rs 1,988 crore as against a loss in the corresponding quarter last year. Jaguar and Land Rover recorded a revenue of £221 million on the first quarter of this financial year. Tata Motor's MD added that Jaguar Land Rover"s improved performance was a result of re-working the product portfolio, betterment in sales and merchandising activities and an inspection and repair of the company"s litigates.
