Tata Motors green initiative will reduce JLR cars' emissions by 25%

Apart from eyeing on greener technologies, the India's largest vehicle manufacturer will carry out analysis on volatile fuel pricing and will continue legislation on emission and taxing.
Tata Motors have got two ongoing research projects namely Limo Green and Range-e. Jaguar company has displayed its Limo Green concept sometime back and now its hybrid XJ is powered by 145 kW, 295 full-load motor torque electric motor along with a 1.2-litre petrol engine for support. This hybrid vehicle will run upto 57 miles per gallon and emission is less than 120 g/km of carbon dioxide while the top speed claimed by the company is 112 miles per hour.
Range rover's Range-e is a premium hybrid SUV which has a plug-in parallel diesel system and runs as electric vehicle too thereby reducing emissions.
Tata Motors had ventured on an emission reduction programme for JLR as part of its turnaround project. The company was given a Ł340-million loan amount by the European Investment Bank in the early 2010. This loan is for eight years and will back the JLR's research and development programmes that will focus to reduce CO2 emissions.
According to the company's report, Environment-friendliness is a growing basic requirement for premium vehicles. Premium competitors are responding by eco sub-branding. A downsized and electrified power-train is a developing feature in premium vehicles, including sports cars. Competitors are developing economic solutions. Traditional SUVs are moving towards crossover, multipurpose and smaller SUVs, and there are similar movements towards small premium cars.
India is a lucrative market and premium brands are no exception. Tata Motors reported an increase of sales in JLR cars. In order to expand the business, dealerships will be increased in India. JLR will likely set up sales dealerships in China too.
Tata Motors will continue to source low cost materials and components in order to reduce the cost of its products as JLR opened purchasing firms in China and India last year. JLR has introduces its luxury car XJ recently and will launch a range of Range Rover cars next year. In the coming years, a complete line up of SUVs and cars from the JLR stable could be seen on Indian roads.
