Skoda Small Car Depends On Maruti Suzuki

Both Skoda and Suzuki are mutually dependable, as the latter is much indebted to the engines from Skoda. Detailed proposals in regard to Skoda small car will be made public from the official sources of both companies. VW knew well the strong base of Maruti in the Indian car market (holding 50% share) which has the potential of 15 lakh units. Skoda has plans to roll down its small car (both petrol and diesel versions) in India to be priced between Rs3 and Rs5 lakhs, followed by a sedan at Rs6-10 lakhs. These are expected to roll down in another two to three years. There is an apparent fact that the Indian car market has the lion"s share of Skoda small car out of the 15 lakh annual units. The ranges of small cars from the global majors like GM (Beat), VW (Polo) and Ford (Figo) all at the price range of Rs3-5 lakhs.
Regarding the launch of its Yeti, he said the current move is to promote the compact version at a target of 400-500 monthly units. The diesel and petrol versions of compact variant will come off at the sooner, he said. Skoda Yeti SUV is a 2.0 lit diesel capable of running 17.67km/lit as observed by Automotive Research Association of India.
