Robots To The Operations In Ford

In a bid to clear the backlog and ensuing demand for its vehicles, the Ford India is employing robots in its Chennai plant. There are 92 robots in the plant which are expected to reduce the work by 30%. The jobs include repeated painting, car structure welding, under body sealing and car door hemming. Ford"s robots hire scheme is meant for its fast selling model Figo. Ford has already invested 0
million in this plant last year for increasing the capacity to 2 lakh annual units.

The finished Figos are sketched for export to South Africa soon. Ford is one of the most trusted global players like BMW, Renault Nissan, Hyundai to invest millions of amount in the southern manufacturing units. These units are now capable of producing 1.5 million vehicles per year. MD of Ford"s Indian operation said that his company is just entered into the small car but the focus will be made on diversified product range for future growth.
