Renault-Nissan's Chennai Plant Gets ISO Certification

Renault-Nissan's plant near Oragadam, Chennai, has received ISO certification for quality (ISO 9000) as well as environment management (ISO 14001). Besides, it has also received the Homologation-whole vehicle type approval for European market within a very short time from the production commencement on May 23, 2010. The ISO audit was done in two stages, by Indian and German Certification Body Auditors (TUV and SUD) in the month of May and July.
Renault Nissan Automotive India Pvt. Ltd. (RNAIPL) has totally received 3 certificates at a time when it is ramping up production and gearing up to commence export operations of its Global compact hatchback small car 'Micra'.

Mr. Akira Sakurai, MD and CEO of RNAIPL, the quality is always Renault-Nissan't primary focus and they wanted to achieve best quality from the very beginning of Renault-Nissan's operations and the certification has come in at a right time as the company is marching ahead with their India operations and this is also a testimony to Renault-Nissan's quality excellence system and social-environmental methodology that the company has adopted at its Chennai plant. He also added that the company has already set a benchmark for construction of the plant and the receipt of ISO certification will add one more feather in RNAIPL cap.

Apart from receiving the ISO certifications, RNAIPL is aiming to get the 'Global Top Performer' quality standards in the next three years for its 'Alliance Production Way' plant. The current standard for 'Global Top Performer' is 4 years from the commencement of production.
