Will Porsche Cayenne SUV Get Assembled In India?

Assembling Cayenne will reduce the import duties and also, this assembly will be the first one to be done outside Germany. Every Porsche car running around the world is manufactured only by Porsche's Germany plants in Zuffenhausen and Leipzig and exported to other countries. By importing completely knocked down (CKD) kits and assembling them in India, Porsche can drastically reduce the import duty on the vehicle to 40 percent from 113 percent applicable to completely built units (CBUs).
Porsche had been in India since 2004 and is expanding its dealership network in Chandigarh, Kochi, Hyderabad, Chennai and Ahmadabad this year. It sells all its 32 models including the 911, Boxster/Cayman, Cayenne and Panamera range in the country. Porsche Cayenne is the costliest petrol driven SUV whose price ranges from Rs. 65 lakh to Rs. 1.27 crore.
A couple of weeks , JLR planned to assemble Range Rover's Freelander 2 in India. JLR is also planning for assembling its cars in China, as both India and China are emerging and promising market for luxury brands. If Porsche joins this "Assembly" plans, will Indians get the premium products at a lower price? Lets wait and watch!
