Peugeot Citreon to get the excellent outfit from HM

The facility in Chennai for Hindustan Motors is ear marked for executing tasks related to Peugeot Citreon products. Peugeot"s projects involving global compact cars will automatically grab Mitsubishi which is in a JV with HM.

Amidst rumors that the project of Peugeot will not invite HM for the task, sources now claim that PSA- Mitsubishi alliance is keen on utilizing the facility at Chennai. The choice becomes natural since the worn out facility at Uttarapad has not that much of technical and personnel capacities to meet the global standards. Further, HM intends to reap a lot with this project carried out in Chennai facility. This is on the lines of its earlier project of Avtec power trains.

PSA wants to take advantage by utilizing the existing facilities to save money and time and HM"s facility comes handy from the available choices in the South India. HM is to please Mitsubishi which has been doing very good rapport for the business promotion in India. The major hassle might be the timely capacity in the future operations. Sources quote similar venture between VW and Skoda wherein VW got units until it had its own facility.

PSA seems to start with the semi-knocked down assembly for its top end models. The company is very augmenting to spread its brand across the country. In the event, HM may sell or PSA might purchase lands adjoining the facility, if need arises. PSA is back to the country"s road lines after its exit some 15 years ago when its alliance with Premier Auto Limited failed to impress. The then facility was at Kalyan near Mumbai. The success of this refined venture is to be seen with much enthusiasm.
