The Japanese car maker Nissan introduced the pattern of two seated electric car to exhibit its intention to be the pioneer in envirocare cars. This is a part of Nissan"s mission to deliver 250000 electric vehicles a year which will be commissioned with Leaf Electric car. This Leaf car is expected to roll down in Japan and the US by this December and the European roads would receive it by next year.

Nissan"s ally Renault of France too is delivering 250000 electric vehicles per year thereby making the combined production of 500000 batteries. Nissan is involved in making batteries with the home company NEC Corp.

Nissan"s VP said that the company is not interested to revolve around electric versions as niche products. Nissan has the base of its 18 year old presence in the making of lithium-ion batteries and these will energize Leaf. However Nissan has been in the field of electric vehicles since 1947. Though lithium batteries are very common in auto industry, Nissan envisages to promote on its Nissan New Mobility CONCEPT. The battery has the running capacity of 100kms at a maximum speed of 75kms /hr.

The battery concept was originally a design from Renault and Nissan took the concept to marginally make popular. However, the cross section of the industry analysts feel that the electric version is not likely to make a deep impact in the market. The VP did not disclose any minute details about the Leaf - price or the period of launch- but narrated the utility value like amusement parks and Yokohama"s green mobility project.

There are 30 charging stations for Nissan"s electric vehicles, which it plans to increase by 80 next year. Further, the company would try its best secure the blessings of the governments and organizations in this regard. In Japan alone Nissan will employ all its dealers to charge these electric vehicles thereby erecting 2 million chargers, in addition to 5000 recharge stations in another ten years.

The move clearly indicated Nissan"s posture towards zero emission. Nissan is in fame currently with its two popular brands March compact and Infiniti luxury. Nissan is employing its own concern to recycle the used EV batteries for reuse and repackage. These batteries are earmarked for reselling as back up ones.
