Nissan motors to raise component sourcing in India

Nissan has been very focused in business dealing soon after its arrival in the country. Managing Director and CEO of Nissan Motor India, Mr. Kiminobu Tokuyama announced that Nissan will provide components which is worth 40 million dollars per annum from India starting from 2012. As a step by step approach, Nissan will initially source 10 million dollars worth components in 2010 and substantially raise it up to 20 million dollars in 2011.

Nissan has already a tie up internationally with Suzuki. As part of that, 35000 A Stars (known as Nissan Pixo in european markets) will be sourced this year. The company hopes that the exports will out number the domestic sales and the Chennai plant has the capacity to produce 80000 vehicles this year. Nissan India announced actor Ranbir Kapoor as its brand ambassador on Wednesday and it will roll out Nissan Micra from July, the first Nissan car, manufactured in India. Bookings for Nissan Micra has already started and roughly 400 cars have been booked throughout India.

Hover Automotive is responsible for distributing Nissan cars in India. Its chairman Mr. Abhijeet Pandit, Vice-President, Sales and Marketing, announced that delivery of the small car Nissan Micra would start from the mid of July. Nissan has target to increase the dealers upto 100 counts across the country in 2010 which is currently only 20.
