$30 Million Indian Components For Nissan

Nissan Motors is treating the Indian presence as a blessing in disguise by which India will soon be its hub for component sourcing for Asia. As such, the revised target for Nissan"s domestic components will be in the range of -million for this year, from the earlier million. According to the company"s CEO and MD, there will be sourcing of Nissan components from India which will be exported to China, Thailand and Japan.

The major components will be drive plate, oil pump, break pedal, clutch pedal, starter motor. Nissan"s Parts Consolidation Center, situated in Chennai, will take care of procuring 50% Nissan components from India while 30% from Delhi vendors and the remaining to be derived from Pune and Bangalore.

Nissan"s rise is seen as a giant one since the company has not been in the limelight since its focus last year. Nissan has been in the hot news after its launch of the compact Micra petrol and its announcement to launch the diesel version. Further Nissan has initiated exports of Micra to major overseas markets.

Nissan is yet to revise its prices of vehicles, while maintaining the overlap of prices of raw materials. The company is contemplating on launching a small car below that of Micra, to fit in the concept stage. He added that once the infrastructure is set right for electric vehicles, the company will launch its Leaf electric, which is getting ready for entry into the Japan and the US markets.
