Tata Nano Prices Hiked By 3-4%

Tata Nano customers who had retained their bookings despite not having been allotted the Rs one-lakh car in the first batch, will have to pay an additional three to four per cent for owning their dream car owing to a steep increase in input costs.
Tata Motors has increased the price of the world cheapest car Nano by 3 to 4% due to raising prices of steel and rubber and other raw materials. The price hike will not be imposed on the first 1 lakh customers, out of which more than half of them are yet to receive their Nano cars. The first one lakh customers are price-protected and they would get their Nano's at the announced price range of Rs 1.23 lakh-Rs 1.72 (ex-showroom, Delhi).
According to the official release of the company, the customers who have retained their booking even after not been selected in the first 1 lakh group, need to pay the additional amount of 3 - 4% of original price for their Nano cars. Tata Motors had begun to inform these customers regarding the price hike depending on the models they have opted for. But the company is yet to disclose as from when the new prices of Tata Nano will be effective!
Tata Nano's mother plant in Sanand, Gujarat is manufacturing Nano is full pace and hence, it helps Tata Motors to deliver the Nano cars quickly. The delivery of Nano cars doubled in June 2010 selling at more than 7,000 cars as against more than 3,500 cars in May 2010.
The Sanand plant in Gujarat has the capacity to produce 2.5 lakh units of Nano cars per annum and the company has plans to increase the production to 3.5 lakh units and then to 5 lakh units depending on the demand of the domestic as well as international market.
