Nissan To Launch Micra Diesel

Nissan Motor India Managing Director and CEO Kiminobu Tokuyama informed that Micra will get a diesel engine option by 2010 end and the company will also launch a sedan based on Micra platform during 2011. Micra petrol, which was officially launched on July 14th 2010 in the country's capital has got 1500 customers waiting to drive their Micras back home. Nissan Micra petrol is powered by a 1.2 L engine and the ARAI mileage is an impressive 18.06 kmpl. Built on the V Platform, Micra is a light weight car and also, with the optimal design providing more interior room and compact on the outside with minimal turning radius. Micra has also got "first time in hatch" features like the Start-top technology, driver airbag as standard features and key less entry. According to sources, the Nissan Micra Diesel will be the down powered version of the Mahindra Renault Logan's 1.5 diesel engine, which is already a mileage giving power mill. With Micra's light weight, the diesel variant will definitely be a car to wait and buy!

Nissan announced the ex-showroom prices (Delhi) of Micra which has got three variants. The base variant XE starts at Rs. 3.98 lakhs, the mid variant XL starts at Rs. 4.69 lakh. The top variant XV which is loaded with lots of safety as well as convenient features is priced at Rs. 5.25 lakhs.

''The Nissan Micra is the right product at the right time that will offer the customers a good means of urban mobility with a complete package of performance, features, safety and comfort.

We expect Micra with its latent advantage and its unique features to do well in the Indian market and carve a niche of its own compared to other competitive models in this segment,'' Mr Tokuyama said.

According to Mr. Tokuyama, Micra is the right product at the right time that will offer the customers a good means of urban mobility with a complete package of performance, features, safety and comfort. The company expects that with unique features and latent advantage, Micra will do well in the Indian market and carve a niche of its own compared to other competitive models in this segment.
Nissan has plans to produce 80000 units of Micra during the first years that will satisfy the demands in both domestic as well as export markets. Nissan, like Hyundai and Ford is making its Chennai plant as an export hub. Nissan is planning to export Micra to 100 nations which includes Europe, Africa and West Asia. By 2012, Nissan will bring 5 new products for the domestic market. Right now,the company has got 4 products, namely X Trail, Teana, 370Z and Micra. Mr. Tokuyama inford that the Japanese firm is committed to expand the footprints in India and aims to be a major player in the domestic auto space. Nissan Micra, has already received more than 1500 bookings, even before the company announced the prices. Nissan will start delivering the cars to the customers from now on, but it has got only 15 dealers so far. But, Nissan is also aggressive in finding feasibilities to open more showrooms and strengthen the dealer networks across the country, because, customer satisfaction and after sales service is vital to retain the Indian car buyers.
