Mercedes reaches a new landmark
The effort displays the simultaneous growth of the luxury segment and Mercedes". The CEO was boastful to indicate that in 2010, the sale volume of the segment in the country for the period of January-December stands at 65 percent. But Mercedes has crossed 86 percent sale for this period. He further said the company has finalized the introduction of the second shift in the facility to meet the demand for the products. He remarked that Mercedes has had a good niche with just less than two years of the facility it was made possible to fill in the first shift.
The demand is attributed to the expanded product range, value based service to the customers on sales and service in global standards. Further the company has on parallel expanded the dealer network even to small towns and cities which made prospective growth in the competitive Indian market. The CEO said the facility is treated as the world best regarding CKD plants and the start of the second shift is detrimental to the future growth. By capitalizing on the instant demand for its products, Mercedes is scheduling its strategy to reach further heights by optimum localization. In this regard, products will be launched surpassing the range available from S, E and C classes, said the company"s Director for Corporate Affairs and HR.
To crown them all Mercedes is devising its facility for painting in its plant at Chakan. The Director-Technical of the company said the decision on shaping the state-of-art paint shop is in the offing. He said there will be eco-friendly painting using water based painting and the unit will start functioning from 2013 and cover every model of the company. Under this scheme, Mercedes will cover 20000 annual units for painting and subsequently for 40000 units and the investment for this unit will be Rs600 crore.
