Endless Journey For Maruti’s Service Outlets
Maruti is completely aware of its hike in production in the coming years, by the time when more service outlets would become necessary. The projected annual production capacity is 17 lakh and this figure will certainly invite more care and attention. Currently there are 2,784 service points for Maruti spread across India which will become 4200 (rise by 50%) service outlets by 2015. Maruti thus intends to erect its service points each at a distance of 25 km across India.
Currently Maruti"s service centers are engaged in offering service to 11.8 cars per month which is scheduled to increase to 14.5 - 15 lakh units in another 5 years. This would enable Maruti to press 22,000 personnel for its service wing making the net personnel strength to 55,000. All this information were disclosed by the company"s Executive Officer for Service. Maruti is soon installing its 3rd unit at an investment of Rs 1,925 crore at Manesar facility to deliver 2.5 lakh annual units. The second facility in Manesar has already got shape at an investment of Rs 1,700 crore which has the annual capacity of 2.5 lakh units. When the third unit delivers its capacity the net capacity would come to 17.5 lakh units, he added.
The official disclosed that the investment met out for the expansion of service outlets every 10 bays of dealer workshop will shell out Rs 70-75 lakh excluding land and building. The non-dealer Maruti Service Station having 5 bays will invest an additional Rs 12-15 lakh excluding building and land. Thus Rs 250 crore will be accumulated through its service associates for installing the additional 1500 service points, he clarified.
