Maruti To Invest $416 Million On Manesar Factory
India's No.1 car maker, Maruti Suzuki has stated that it would invest 35 billion yen (6 million) to setup a new factory in Manesar in order to meet growing local demand. According th Suzuki Motor Coporations' Chairman, Osamu Suzuki, Maruti Suzuki has not estimated the pace at which car demand would grow in India.
Maruti's cars are in huge demand and hence, the investment for the new facility will further boost the production, making it possible for customers to get their cars quickly. Maruti Suzuki's new plant in Manesar will be its third factory in that location. If the new plant begins operations in full swing, it would lift the total production of Maruti's cars up to 1.75 million units per year.
Maruti has been selling close to 5 lakh cars in the first four months of this year. The country's car sales have increased to 1,58,764 units in July 2010 as compared to 115,084 units in July 2009. This shows a 38% sales increase.
