Earlier, Maruti made a record sales of 1,02,175 units in May 2010 which was the highest ever at that time. But now, the August sales have surpassed May sales.

In domestic market alone, Maruti has sold 92,674 units last month as against 69,961 units in a year-ago period. However, Maruti's 800 car sales have dropped to 1,919 units in 2010, because the company has not upgraded its engine to BSIV emission standards.

Maruti's major sales volume comes from the A2 segment, where Maruti saw a 25.69 percent growth at 65,953 units in August 2010 as against 52,473 units in August 2009. In the A3 segment, Maruti recorded 33.99 percent sale increase to 10,479 units as against 7,821 units in the same period last year
