Maruti Will Reduce Waiting Period For Its Cars!

By Suparna Chakaraborthy

Maruti Suzuki, India's largest car maker is planning out to build vehicle stockyards across the country to reduce the irksome waiting time for its best selling cars like Alto, Wagon R and Swift models. Maruti will open its first stock yard in Bangalore for which the auto giant has already acquired land.

Maruti Suzuki will invest Rs. 200 crore to build stock yards in the country. This move is very much significant for the company has to avoid customers moving to other car brands due to 3-4 months waiting period for its cars like Swift, Swift Dzire and low cost MPV Maruti EECO. Maruti is keen on increasing its dealerships and is giving a special focus on rural market to widen its business.

According to Maruti official, the car maker will set up 4 stock yards, one each in North, South, East and West. Waiting time increases when the customer requests for a particular model and color, but the dealer doesn't have it. But stock yards will hopefully ease the transport of cars to dealers and thereby reduce the waiting period, Maruti believes.

Maruti's Bangalore stock yard will spread over 25 acres of land and will also help in reducing the working capital requirement of dealers as many more dealerships are to be opened by Maruti Suzuki.
