Maruti Produces 500000 K-series Engines

India's No.1 car maker, Maruti has met the 5 lakh production milestone in manufacturing its latest generation K-series engine a little short of 2 years.

Maruti started manufacturing K-series engines in October 2008 and they are now powering seven cars of Maruti that includes the latest Alto K10 besides Wagon R, Estilo, Swift, Ritz, A-Star and Swift Dzire.

According to Maruti Suzuki India Managing Director and CEO Shinzo Nakanishi, the introduction of K-series engine in India is an example of Maruti Suzuki's commitment to take the engine technology in India to the next level. In a short span, the company has scaled up the production of K-series engine manifold.

Maruti's factories produce 5 lakh K-series engines per annum and has recently announced the expansion plan to produce an additional 2 lakh K-series engines within next two years. There are two K-series engines 1.0 L and 1.2 L. Maruti's Alto-K10, Estilo, A-Star and the new Wagon R are powered by 1.0 L K-series engines while Swift, Ritz and Dzire are powered by 1.2 L K-series engine. K-series engines are powerful, fuel efficient and greener, compliant to BS IV emission standards.
