Maruti Suzuki Sets A Target Of 1500 Outlets
According to Partho Banerjee, GM (Marketing and Sales) of Maruti Suzuki, stated that the company has 828 showrooms and has plans to increase it double fold in the next 5 years. He also added that Maruti is trying to identify the socio-economic conditions of a particlular area, two-wheeler sales and based on that work out a strategy to start outlets. Maruti sells 8000 cars per month in Kerala and is aiming to increase its sales outlets in the state to 100 in the next five years from the present 59 in this state.
Partho Banergee added that Maruti exported 1,50,000 units of cars in 2009 and 80 percent was A-Star. Maruti exports a larger chunk of A Star to European countries were people are moving to smaller cars for fuel efficiency and lower ownership costs.
Maruti launched Alto-K10 in Kerala besides a nationwide launch. Alto K10 is powered by a K series engine that gives better pick up and acceleration. The new Alto-K10 has two tone interiors, easy gear shifting through cable type transmission, superior brake system and enhanced, bolder exteriors. Maruti Alto K10 comes in two trim levels, LXi (Rs. 3.03 lakh) and VXi (Rs. 3.16 lakh ex-showroom Delhi)
Maruti is selling the Alto K10 along with the largest selling car of India, the Maruti Alto (800cc). Maruti hopes that the new Alto K10 will increase the sales of this car. Maruti Alto sells at the rate of 20,000 units every month and in Kerala 2700 Altos are bought by the customers every 30 days. Maruti is targeting to sell more than 10 lakh cars per annum. So far, Maruti has witnessed a 26 percent growth in the first quarter of this fiscal year. Maruti is facing stiff competition from rivals like Hyundai, Ford, GM and Tata as each of these companies are providing cost effective and value for money products.
