Maruti's new Alto to be launched!

Maruti's top selling small car Alto, will be available in a brand new avatar, according the company sources. Alto will get a heart transplant. The BSIV compliant 800cc petrol engine is likely to be replaced by the 1000cc K series engine that drives the 'A Star' and 'Estilo cars' of Maruti. As with the increase in Engine's power, so will be the price of Alto. Right now, the small car price ranges from Rs. 2.29 lakh up to Rs. 2.8 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi)

Maruti Suzuki India has the strategy to equip all its cars with K Series engines. K10 and K12 is already installed in 6 cars namely Estilo, Wagon R, A Star, Ritz, Swift and Swift Dzire. Alto will be the next car to get the K-series engine. Maruti is No.1 car manufacturer in India. It has crossed 1 lakhs units of sales in May 2010 alone. Also, Maruti Suzuki Swift made a Guinness World Record on May 30th in Gurgaon. Maruti's plant in Manesar is capable of producing 10 lakh units of engines per annum and 2.5 lakh units are K series engines.

Maruti Alto is the top selling car for the past couple of years in India. With an average of 20000 units selling every month, Maruti Alto grabbed the "largest selling small car" from its predecessor Maruti 800. Since its launch in 2000, the company has sold 13.5 lakh cars .
