Mahindra Thar Relaunch For 5.97 Lakhs
After nearly a decade , Mahindra&Mahindra"s Commander Jeep is coming again but under new platform with a new name, the 4 x 4 Thar CRDe. Mahindra Thar India is to be commercially marketed by Mahindra and Mahindra for Rs5.99 lakhs in Delhi while it will be Rs6.01 lakh in Bangalore, Rs6.28 lakhs in Mumbai, Rs5.97 in Thane.
The Mahindra Thar DI BS III version is Rs4.47 lakhs and the company is launching the vehicle in Chandigarh, Bangalore, Delhi, Jaipur and Mangalore during December and in the other parts during the new year, said its Chief Executive. Mahindra and Mahindra has been marketing this vehicle in the markets of South Africa for the past two years at Rs9.5 - Rs10 lakhs. M&M is setting the ball roll in the semi-urban and rural markets, after analyzing the feasibility for marketing the vehicle in India, he said.
Mahindra Thar 4 x 4 off-roaders are preferred for the mongers who like re-defined structure and new style. M&M has already invested Rs5 crore for this modification while the vehicle is to be delivered through 200 dealers spread across the country. To meet the demands from the buyers who long for different style, adventure in driving and entertainment which Mahindra Thar India is expected to fulfill. M&M believes that Thar will make a new terrain in the Indian auto industry as it comes as the refined form of the global Commander Jeep (CJ5).
The vehicle is fitted with improved suspensions and refined characters; it enables better ground clearance even for tough roads; it gets the power from a 2.5 lit CRDi diesel engine. The power output is 77kw (105bhp) driven by wire technology adopting to different level of speed and acceleration. The chassis is tough ladder frame oriented for easy handling; there is the latest suspension of IFS aided by resistant rear leaf of springs for proper balance, said its Chief Executive. The base variant of Thar is coming with a DI engine to be positioned as a common lifestyle vehicle suitable for rural market. It has the option of 2 / 4 wheel drive. M&M"s other range of vehicles include Bolero, Scorpio, Xylo.
